The Thinking Schools Academy Trust held its first TSAT Rocks battle last week, in which junior school students from across our Trust battled it out on Times Tables Rockstars to become the first TSAT Rocks champion. Pupils from Gordon logged on from home and from school to put their times tables skills to the test! We were one of 7 schools competing in the battle, against other primary and junior schools from our Medway and Portsmouth Hubs, and after 4 days of intense battle, we won!
We are so proud of every one of our pupils for taking part; this is such a great achievement for all involved! Congratulations also to our friends at Cedar Children’s Academy who came in at 2nd place, and to Meon Junior School who were the Portsmouth Hub winners.
Across the Trust, over 1,666 children from 92 classes took part, and an incredible 1,287,318 times tables questions were answered! It was a great opportunity for our pupils to connect with the other schools in our Trust, and develop a sense of pride in representing our school.
Our pupils worked incredibly hard and had lots of fun taking part in the competition; the battle was designed to engage our pupils in their Maths learning and develop their arithmetic skills in fun, engaging and interactive way, and this was certainly achieved at Gordon!
Well done and thank you to all children who took part, and to parents and carers who encouraged their children to participate from home. We’re very excited for the next TSAT Rocks battle next term – let’s see if we can keep the trophy, Gordon!
