School Update – Coronavirus (COVID-19)

Following the Government’s most recent Covid-19 update on Sunday 10th May it is important to note that there are no immediate changes in the education or child care provision made by schools.

Therefore, schools will continue to provide distance learning support for students and child care for Key Workers who have provided 24 hours notice of their intention to use the child care facility.

As you will be aware, the government has announced the expectation that Primary schools will begin a phased transition to school based learning from 1st June for Years R, 1 and 6.

We are working closely with the Local Authorities and the Department For Education to ensure the most effective and safe return to school for students and staff. We will be in contact you shortly to update you on our plans.

Please continue to check your mailboxes and this website for updates.

Thank you for your continued support.

EYFS School Learning

Please see below a letter and presentation for all EYFS parents/carers from the Reception staff team:

Tapestry Letter for Parents

Tapestry Presentation for Parents

Below is a suggested timetable of activities for the children. Below the timetable you will find all of the necessary links and required instructions.

Create a scrap book of your children’s learning for each day.  Work should be completed independently by the children and parents can support the activity through questioning and scribing.  In your scrap book, please write the area of learning, questions asked and your child’s voice (what did they say).

Look out for the tapestry challenges each day. This will involve either taking a picture of work and uploading it to tapestry or taking a video to upload to tapestry. We would like the work to be completed as independently as possible by the children. If you would like to update your chid’s daily learning activities in addition to the challenges set, that would also be very much encouraged.

After reading they could:

  1. Draw their favourite character from the story and write the name of the character underneath.
  2. Change the story by adding or designing a new character or a different setting.
  3. Predict what might happen next in the story.
  4. Retell the story.
  5. Act out the story.
  6. Design a mask or a puppet. If you have paper plates, a mask could work or you could draw a picture of a character and stick it onto a stick/lolly stick. Retell and act out the story using these masks or puppets.
